A1 Auto and Commercial was founded in 2010 by John Lonergan Sr. What began as a trusted dealership providing quality, affordable pre-owned vehicles to the residents of Odendaalsrus and the surrounding communities quickly earned a reputation for honest service and dependable value. In those early years, our workshop operated mainly behind the scenes, preparing vehicles for the showroom and making sure every customer drove away with confidence.

In January 2017, John Lonergan Jr. saw an opportunity to grow. With a vision of serving not only our dealership but also the wider community, he expanded the workshop into a fully operational service centre. This marked the beginning of A1 Auto Care, a name proudly inspired by A1 Auto and Commercial.

Situated close to the mining communities of Odendaalsrus and Allanridge, just 10 km from Welkom, John Jr. saw real potential to provide reliable automotive services to local families and businesses alike. Starting with only a handful of essential services, A1 Auto Care has grown steadily into a workshop offering a comprehensive range of vehicle maintenance and repair services.

Today, we are proud to serve customers from Odendaalsrus, Welkom, Allanridge, Hennenman, Ventersburg, Virginia and beyond. Our client family has grown to include local businesses, fleet operators and government departments who trust us to keep their vehicles safe, reliable and on the road.
